FAQ

How many hours does it normally take to complete a typical DIY project?

A DIY project can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. The length of the project will vary based on its complexity and difficulty.

Is it worth spending extra money on professional handyman service?

It all depends on what type of project you are looking to accomplish. If you need a complex construction project like an office renovation, then a professional handyman service would definitely be beneficial.

What is the hourly rate for a handyman?

A handyman can charge between $50-$75 an hour. This is a job that most of them have done for years. Their average work week is about 10 hours. They do not need to be advertised; they are well-known in the area.

They will tend to specialize and establish customer relationships over time.

Their key difference from other contractors is their quickness, reliability, and affordability.

Most people are familiar with at least two of these guys and feel confident enough to call them when they need support.

Some people are so skilled that they run their own businesses.

Can a handyman fix my leaky faucets?

A handyman can probably handle minor repairs but will not have the training required to perform major projects, such as rewiring a house or installing custom cabinetry. A handyman can do minor home improvements, but there are no limitations to his abilities.

Is it necessary to train a handyman for my work?

No. Handymen have all the skills and knowledge necessary to complete any task. All you need to do is give them the materials to complete the job.

How do I find a trusted handyman?

You should always get references before you hire a handyman. Ask friends and family who have used the handyman in the past. Also, look online--there are plenty of review sites where handymen post reviews of themselves.

Where are handymen from?

There are thousands, if not millions of handymen in America. However, most of them never started out as contractors. The majority of handymen started their careers as tradesmen and learned how to complete apprenticeships. As a result, they often possess great skill sets and a wealth of knowledge, which makes them very valuable assets to any company.

How to Replace a Broken Window?

Repairing broken windows is one the most common home improvement jobs. Repairing damage to glass within your home is the task. This repair will take only 30 minutes. However, if you are not familiar with how to replace broken panes of glass, you may cause further damage to the home. This article contains some tips to help you replace a damaged window.

First step: Take the glass out of its frame

To remove the old windowpane, you will first need to take out the screws that held it in place. The lock located at the top middle of the bottom portion of the window frame must be undone. Next, raise the window so it isn't attached to the sillplate (the metal strip below the floor). Use a pry to loosen any remaining screws. Once the panes are removed, clean them thoroughly.

Next step: Clean the glass

Use a dry cloth or paper towel to wipe away any dirt from the surface of the glass. To remove any dirt or other debris from the glass' surface, spray it with water and rub alcohol.

The third step is to reinstall the glass

Then, attach the window panes back into the frames. Start by pushing down on the lower edge of the outermost pane with the tip of a screwdriver. Gently push the pane back into the opening in the frame. Next, insert the next pane by pressing it against the first pane. Continue inserting the panes until the entire window is assembled. Use a silicone caulk gun to seal the space where the panes meet.

Fourth step: Repair the damage

When installing the new glass, inspect the area around the hole to determine whether any additional repairs are needed. Two small pieces of wood should be placed along the edges of each hole if the crack is near the corner. These wooden blocks will add strength to the window while also acting as spacers to keep the glass in place during the expansion and contraction of the weatherproofing material.

Fifth step: Seal the repaired area

Apply silicone caulking around the edges of the frame after the glass has been replaced. This will create an excellent seal between the glass & the surrounding wallboard. You can buy silicone caulking online or at hardware shops. Make sure you choose a color that is consistent with the wall's existing paint.

Allow the caulking to cure overnight. Once the caulking is fully set, don't disturb it. If you don't wait enough, the caulking could crack when you take it off.
