FAQ

What should I choose: hourly or per-project?

It all comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer paying by the hour to know exactly how much their handyman charges. Some prefer to pay for each project, even though they may be doing multiple jobs at once. Either way, it's fine.

What is the average time it takes to complete a DIY project?

An average DIY project takes between two and four hours. The difficulty and complexity of the project will affect how long it takes.

Do professional handyman services really make sense?

This will depend on the type and scope of your project. A professional handyman service is recommended for complex projects such as office renovations.

Are handyman services more expensive than general contractors?

Yes! Yes! This is especially true for those who have never had a contractor do a job. Additionally, a handyman will speed up the job completion because they can complete certain tasks quicker and more efficiently.

Is there anything I should do before I hire a handyman.

It is important to hire someone with experience in your project. Also, make sure to get references and ask about customers who have used your services before. It may be a good idea to add some money to cover any unexpected costs. Also, you'll want to make sure he's insured and licensed.

Which is simpler: Contracting or being a handyman.

As you only require yourself and your tools, being a handyman takes less time than contracting. Contractors rely on subcontractors to complete most of the work. You must manage your own schedule and workload.

How To

How to Replace a Broken Window?

The most common home improvement task is to replace broken windows. The job involves repairing the damage done to the glass in your home. In this case, the repair work should only take around 30 minutes. You could end up causing more damage to your house if you don't know the best way to replace a damaged pane. This article offers some useful tips to replace a broken window.

First, remove the old glass from its frame

First, remove all screws that hold the glass in place. Then undo the lock at the top center of the bottom section of the window frame. Next, move the window up slightly to remove it from the sill plate (the bar that runs below the floor). Finally, use a pry tool to carefully loosen the remaining screws until they pop out of their holes. Once the panes are removed, clean them thoroughly.

Next step: Clean the glass

Use a dry towel or paper towel to clean the glass. You can clean the glass with a spray bottle containing water and rubbing alcohol if there is any debris underneath.

The third step is to reinstall the glass

Attach the window frames to the panes. With the tip of a screwdriver, push down on the bottom edge of the outermost window pane. Gently push back the pane into place in the opening. After moving to the next one, push it firmly against your previous one before you reattach it. Continue to insert the panes until you have assembled the whole window. To seal the area where the panes meet, use a silicone caulk gun.

Fourth Step: Repair the affected area

When installing the new glass, inspect the area around the hole to determine whether any additional repairs are needed. Two small pieces of wood should be placed along the edges of each hole if the crack is near the corner. These wooden blocks will give strength to the window and act as spacers between the glass and the weatherproofing material.

Fifth step: Seal the repaired area

After replacing the glass, you can apply silicone caulking along the perimeter edges to the window frame. This will create a good seal between the glass and the surrounding wallboard. You can find silicone caulking in hardware stores and online. Be sure to choose a color that matches the existing paint on the walls.

Allow the caulking time to dry overnight. Once the caulking is fully set, don't disturb it. If you don't wait enough, the caulking could crack when you take it off.
